Malevich's recent exhibition at the Tate brought together his paintings, sculptures and drawings. These early experiments led him to the invention of supermatism, his distinct bold visual language of abstract geometric shapes and colours. The first thing that stuck me about the collection, was the way the pieces were hung. The curation of the collection intentionally evokes the original set up from 1915, including the defining 'Black Square' which was placed in the top corner of room. This is a traditional way to hang paintings of Russian icons and in Malevich's our way this his him saying he has reached his highest point with 'Black Square' and the epitomised modernism.
